My highest paid stylist will be transferring to one of the slower salons due to the fact that she moved. I'm hoping her customers will transfer, but it is about 20 minutes away from the other salon. A lot of customers are convenience driven, so she will lose some. I'm being realistic. Now, do I still convert her to hourly based on the pay from the other salon?
Answer:
Make a postcard and send it to all the stylist current clients letting them know that he or she has moved and that you “the owner”, not "the stylist are offering them 20% off to make the drive or 20% to try someone at the current location. It takes the stress off the stylist when you take ownership because you are paying her regardless. Then it gives you the opportunity to market her with discounts and not have to worry about the % factor.
You can even send out a postcard to your database of clients that haven’t returned in the last 6 months that live in the area code and give them 50% off for returning and put them with her. This is also the perfect time if you don’t already have one in place, to have her sign a non-compete contract
Have a wonderful day,
