Where do I begin, Darla's salon coaching was amazing, overwhelming (in a good way!), informative and awesome! I learned that you should treat every single guest that comes in to your salon like V.I.P. (you never know who they are). Guests come to Aveda to experience pampering like no other, and we need to give our guests that opportunity.

Darla has been a great source of inspiration to my business partner and me. In April 2008, my partner and I attended her Get Out From Behind the Chair class. As soon as Darla started talking I realized that I had let my dreams of an empowering salon slowly die after 30 years in the business.
I was in a rut. After the first day of class we began a mission to better not only our lives but also the lives of our staff and all the guests who visit our salon, we wanted our dream back.
We haven’t stopped. Just two months after we heard Darla speak we have expanded the salon to three times the space, implemented a no tipping policy, and we are implementing a marketing strategy like no other. Darla’s willingness to change an old profession (which needed changing) by sharing her knowledge is truly remarkable. We are honored to be a part of history.

creating an awesome salon experience.
I have worked for Aveda in field sales and education for 17 years in St.
Louis. My mother, Carolann Sternberg, visited your salon today while
visiting CA and called me about her amazing experience. She talked for
almost 20 minutes about all of the details of her service and value added
services. She absolutely loved that you are a no tip salon.
My mom is 72 and doesn\'t spend her disposable income as freely as she used
to. I asked her if she would return, she said \'Absolutely!\' without
hesitation. In fact, she wants my dad to get a haircut there as well.
Please tell your team to keep up the great work. Your salon strategy is
working!
(My only regret is that she had to go to Cathedral City to receive a \'wow\'
Aveda experience.)

Thanks for the advice. I've been keeping my ears open and spreading happy thoughts throughout the day. I have had a "talk" with Ashley and Jasmin both so hopefully they can handle Team Leader Marissa with open hearts, they seem to understand and are ready for the new changes.
I have great news to share with you today when we gave NGT's (New Guest Tours) we had two different guest book Reservations with us right after there tours a Hair Cut with Marissa and Marissa up sold a Aveda Manicure. Also another guest booked a message and Facial and bought products that Karina recommended. Also she prebooked for a perm and hair cut. Isn't that Awesome?!!!!!
I had a team meeting and I've started "Signature Trends" Contest to see who can come up with the best look and it includes Fashion, color, cuts and also make-up styles that can be transferred to the team. The whole salon team is excited!
I wanted to let you all know of all the wonderful things I've seen and heard today. (and the day is not over yet!) Krista is almost completely booked and she is learning everyday. everyone is helping everyone. Carissa up sold a color with a chemical service. Anita did some make up. I feel a great uplifting vibe coming from within our salon.

Handshaking is going great. In fact I just sent an email to John and Gigi about how every girl is stepping it up and doing there handshakes when every guest walks through the door. Thanks
Samplers are doing great - we had 7 people come in yesterday with them. One lady was booked for all visits she upgraded her hair and had color done by Marissa.
Thank you so very much for taking the time and coming to our salon and "whipping" us into shape. We needed it! All the changes are wonderful. I already feel so much closer to the team and just a great light feeling!
